Longlac Site

Longlac is a bilingual community of 1,800 people, located a three hour drive Northeast of Thunder Bay. The NorWest Community Health Centres is the only local provider of primary care. Primary care services and health promotion programs are also provided for Caramat and the Long Lake #58 and Ginoogaming First Nations.

We are pleased to announce that the Hospice Northwest Program and the NorWest Community Health Centres have formalized their partnership. This agreement details the ownership and governance of the program by Hospice Northwest and the commitment to deliver the program in Longlac with staff support from the NorWest Community Health Centres.

Programs unique to Longlac:

In Longlac, we provide a workshop for parents and children 10 years and older to talk about safety issues when the children are home alone.

Our playgroups provide you with information on how to promote your child's development and self-esteem.

Seniors benefit from a community garden at the local senior's residence.   Seniors help out with the planting, watering and weeding of the garden.

We offer a school program to introduce fruits and vegetables and to provide nutrition education to 415 students each month during the school year.  

We offer several programs to promote physical activity, especially for children and youths.
