I’m Laura and I am a recent graduate of Lakehead’s Compressed Nursing Program.
During my final year I was placed at NorWest in primary care and mobile/diabetes education, It was not until this placement that I finally felt like I had made the right choice by choosing nursing as a career. NorWest showed me how a community health centre can affect change in peoples lives by addressing barries to access, and choosing a person first approach. I am now so fortunate to be a full time nurse at NorWest, and am grateful to come to work with such amazing people and clients everyday.
NorWest helped me to understand the role of nursing in the community, I was able to see a side of nursing that was not the hospital and gain a sense of how important the work of this clinic is.
